This is a topic about the sad problem that Chrome Remote Desktop can now only be used via the web.
I think there are quite a few people who regularly use Chrome Remote Desktop as RDP software.
Speaking of which, I’m also a fan of Chrome Remote Desktop. While I also use other remote desktop software like AnyDesk in parallel, I basically use Chrome Remote Desktop which is easy to use and familiar.
Such Chrome Remote Desktop will now only support the web application version, and the software version of Chrome Remote Desktop will no longer be supported.
this app is no longer supported.
What’s wrong with this?
Shortcut Keys Can’t Be Used
There are many things I want to say, but… the worst thing is that shortcut keys can’t be used. Since you’re remote desktoping from a browser like Chrome, it’s natural that shortcut keys can’t be used.
There may be extensions in the future that disable Chrome’s shortcut keys for remote desktop. That would be fine. But as it currently stands, such infrastructure is not in place at all. Frankly speaking, for us users, there are no benefits to migrating from software to web applications.
Access to the web application version of Chrome Remote Desktop is below.
