This article introduces how to address poor audio quality and severe noise in VirtualBox Windows 10.

As written in the article [search-yuipro “When folders are not mounted in VirtualBox Windows 10”], the folder mounting problem was easily solved by reinstalling Guest Additions.

At that time, I had a thought.

Since the audio quality was bad until now, I had been doing various things via RDP, but this might be fixed, right?

It was fixed.

I learned that when there’s any problem with VBox, you should first suspect a Guest Additions update.

Install the VirtualBox Guest Additions Plug in.

From Console File → Device → Insert Guess Additions Image CD.

## Addendum Soon after saying that, it recurred.

Hmm, I don’t know. However, the audio quality has definitely changed dramatically since updating Guest Additions. But there are still some unstable parts. I’ve researched this problem quite a bit myself, but I can’t find a solution, so I think we just have to wait for time to solve it.

One could consider a method of using audio servers like pulseaudio to send audio to the host PC for integration, but I’ve never done this kind of thing and don’t really understand it. Also, specifically for pulseaudio, it seems currently impossible on Windows 10 except by using tricky methods. I’ll write about it when I can do it someday. WSL also can’t use pulseaudio, but it would be interesting if it could. Hmm.
